Look Who’s Talking
‘Look Who’s Talking’ is an offbeat look at motherhood and romance. In this witty romantic comedy, Kirstie Alley plays a woman who has an extramarital affair. She becomes pregnant. It doesn’t change her boyfriend’s mind. But she doesn’t know if it’s the right man under her nose.
The baby’s mother, Mollie, is a single, thirty-something accountant. She’s got an affair with Albert, a married executive, and is about to have a baby.
As she’s preparing to give birth, Mollie meets James Ubriacco, a cab driver who turns out to be an excellent babysitter. He’s also a friend. They make a deal. For a price, he’ll take care of Mollie’s child.
The child, Mikey, is precocious and frustrated with attention from his sister. He wants to master potty training. Meanwhile, Mollie is looking for the perfect father for her little boy. Despite her fears, a relationship develops.
“Look Who’s Talking” has already grossed more than $45 million and is still one of the top-grossing movies of the year. Look Who’s Talking is also the third-highest-grossing fall release of all time.
Look Who’s Talking isn’t perfect, but it’s a cute and funny movie with a lot of heart. And it’s worth watching if you’re into comedy and/or love babies.
‘Look Who’s Talking’ has been out in North America for five weeks. It’s earned $11.4 million on 1,641 screens. That’s 83 percent more than the film earned last year, making it one of the most successful comedies of the year.
The film’s voiceover work is terrific. Bruce Willis provides the baby’s dialogue. While it’s not as clever as other films with talking babies, it is surprisingly good.
Although the film’s direction doesn’t always come off as steady, the comedy’s good.
